BETWEEN THE LINES

a pile of books

Welcome to Between the Lines, a site dedicated to reading and appreciating books. Reading is a devoted practice nearly as old as time, and it has been just as important for centuries. In an age where less and less are picking up books to study, literary understanding has become paramount. Here I will provide book reviews and recommendations; ranging from timeless works, to cult classics, and even to some modern works.

TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW

This novel follows the lives of two video game designers- Sadie Green and Sam Masur, and their close friend Marx Wantanabe -as they attempt to break into the industry in the nineties. The story is not pretty, and it is not meant to be. The characters are frustrating, the drama typically comes down to a breakdown in communication, but that is the point. One chapter towards the end of this book, The NPC, is beautifully written and definitely a highlight of the story, uniquely written in second person. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, but only if you are willing to put up with infuriating characters from time to time.
